Summer nights

So since Nick works 3rd shift, Tommy and I have a lot of time to kill in the evenings. My mom comes over several times a week to keep us company and I appreciate it SO much. Especially since I'm so hugely pregnant right now :) Our evenings are simple, but fun.

They usually start out inside. Especially the last week or so. It's been SOOOO stinking hot, even at 8pm. So we keep Tommy inside as long as possible, which is getting harder and harder because he LOVES to be outside.

Most nights, we fit in a little cowboy action with a horsey ride and cowboy hat :)

He always likes to take a little drive around the basement. He makes sure to blow mom some kisses before he heads off :) We'll see if that lasts to when he ACTUALLY starts driving.

Once it's cooled down, we head outside and Tommy takes Nana for wagon rides while Mommy relaxes and watches from behind the camera lense!

He LOVES to play with our cars. He always gets our keys and tries to unlock the doors. His favorite thing to do is set off our car alarms on purpose and then act super surprised when it starts beeping. He NEVER gets tired of that game! Luckily, we live in the middle of the country, so the noise doesn't bother anyone.

He's such a little man "working" out in the yard. Whenever he gets stuck in a hole, he gets out of his car and starts pushing until he's not stuck anymore. He's such a hard worker and he never gives up!

Whenever we make him stop moving for a few minutes, we get "the look." Oh man, does he have that look down pat. He can whip it up in no time. Let's just say, you never have to guess what emotion he's feeling. His face will ALWAYS show it!

This is the second most frequent look we get. It's the "I'm getting ready to something REALLY ornery and I'm so excited I can't help myself look!" In this picture, he had been driving his Cozy Coup (whom we've named Charlie) and he was getting ready to run into my mom's car. So she said, "Hey! You better not hit Nana's car!!" And his reply was to jump out of his car, make this look on his face and then proceed to run to her car to physically hit it with his hand. Hilarious!

Then.........it's time for the best part of his night :) The chocolate popsicle.

After we're done with the popsicles, we enjoy the last few minutes of dark and blow bubbles. He chases them ALL over the yard and can't get enough of it.

We don't do anything spectacularly glamorous, but it's nice to have room for him to run around and wear himself out. The last few nights, we've stayed inside and he gets so mad when I say no to going outside, but it's just TOO hot!! I hope he remembers these warm country nights filled with popsicles and bubbles forever :) For me, it's the simple things that make life awesome and enjoyable.

35 weeks

It's getting so real!!!!!!!! It's been "something that's going to happen a long time from now" for so long that when I think about being 35 weeks, my heartbeat picks up and I start having mini panick attacks! I thought this 2nd baby thing was supposed to be easier! So far, I'm stressing WAY more than I did with Tommy. But it's good and welcome stress. I can't wait for this little girl to get here!!

How Far Along? 35weeks

Maternity Clothes? Yes and they're getting too small :(

Weight Gain? 13 lbs. Thank God no more weight gained since last week

Stretch Marks? No new ones

Gender? Pink :)

Sleep? It's been okay.....starting to pee more. Having some pelvic discomfort, so hard to get comfy.

Food Cravings? glazed donuts from Quick Trip and Rootbeer. And I've really been wanting some of those huge chewy sweet tarts!

What I Miss? Not being out of breath all the time, my ankles, painting my toe nails, hopping up off the floor.

Symptoms? Some serious heartburn and disgustingly swollen ankles and fingers.

Movement? quite often with all the donuts and root beer I consume :) She's rolling around like crazy and feels extremely large

Belly button? In

Worst Moment of the Week? The hip/pelvic pain and discomfort that have come back. They went away for about a month and now it's back and even worse :(

Best Moment of the Week? Swimming with my boy a few times. My body feels so UNencumbered in the water!! And he's so much fun to play with!

Scariest Moment of the Week? When we were swimming at the Towanda pool, I was going to lift Tommy up over the side to hand him to my cousin and I didn't realize the side of the pool slanted, so my foot slipped and I hit the wall belly first. It was super scary and I got super paranoid after it happened. Luckily, I didn't hit it too hard and she was moving around plenty, so that eased my mind. But still something I want to avoid happening again!!

Midnight memories

Last night was a night I'll never forget. To most, it will be impossible to understand why it means anything, but to me, it will always mean everything.

Nothing significant happened. It was just.......one of those nights. My mom cleans house for people and a lot of them have swimming pools that they LOVE to share with her in the summertime. The people whose house she cleaned last night actually own a pool business, so needless to say, their pool is beautiful and spotless. Being as warm as it's been, I've been DYING to get in a pool and my mom knows that. So she asked the people she was cleaning for if they would mind if me and Tommy came over and swam with her. They said the more the merrier, so we went. And I'm SOOOOO glad we did. We made a trip to Wal-Mart first, so we didn't actually get to where my mom was until almost 10pm. I was hesitant to get in the pool because it was Tommy's bed time, but thanks to an early evening nap, he was not tired in the least. I was dreading driving home with wet suits and towels, but the heat got the best of me and I gave in to swimming.

I've been wanting to take Tommy swimming all summer, but due to work and busy weekends, I haven't been able to. I was super jealous because my sister and mom had taken him one day last week while I was working. I was sad that I missed out on his first big boy swimming experience, but I wanted him to be able to get out of the house and not have to miss out on things just because I'm not there, so I let them take him. But last night totally made up for it. I don't know if it was the fact that it was pitch black outside and we were swimming under the stars or the fact that he was in an exceptionally good mood or that fact that in water, my pregnant body feels weightless and unhindered.....but it was almost magical. Corny, but true. A lot of times when we're with Nana, Tommy only wants Nana. But last night, he kept throwing his skinny, wet arms around my neck and reaching for me and swimming around with me. HE asked ME for kisses (which NEVER happens--I usually have to beg for them!). And his little personality was just so fun last night! He jumped off the side of the pool into my arms about 100 times. He kept putting his face in the water to blow bubbles. He was kicking and "swimming" like a pro. I loved it! And I'll forever be grateful that I didn't let the late hour or the wet towels or the drive home at midnight keep me from swimming with him. We had so much fun-his little blonde head was shining in the moonlight, his eyes were full of laughter and his crooked grin kept popping up on his face.

Maybe it's the fact that we're getting ready to welcome a new little girl into the family, but I've started thinking about how few and far between moments like that are going to become. I won't be able to be alone with him again for awhile after she's born and I feel like time with him is slipping through my fingers. I know having Tessa here is going to be fun and make our family even better than it is, but I get afraid that Tommy's going to think he's being left behind or that he'll feel neglected. And I hope that's not the case. It would break my heart for that to happen!

So you better believe that when he wanted to hold my hand the whole drive home, I hung my arm over the back of the seat until it was numb and tingly. I wasn't letting go of that little hand for anything. And I snuggled him until he fell asleep and even let him stay in my bed for a few hours. Because even if he won't have a single memory of that night, I'll hold onto it for the rest of my life.

17 months

My not-so-little boy is 17 months already! And he's changing by the second. The other day, he was laying on the couch and his legs were so long that he took up over half the couch! Nuts.

Tommy, at 17 months, you are:

*weighing about 27 lbs

*around 32 inches tall

*still wearing a size 5 diaper

*wearing size 18-24 month clothes

*in a size 6 or 7 shoe. Your feet are HUGE!!

*talking up a storm. You don't say any sentences (that make sense, anyways). You will look at us and ramble on for 30-45 seconds using sounds that SEEM like words, but they're not. You DO say a lot of things though and are repeating a lot of what we're saying :) We're trying to talk more carefully. Your favorite things to say are dog, dad, truck and bug.

*FINALLY "saying" please. We have been working with you on this for a long time now. You refuse to say the word, so we taught you the sign for it. For the past few weeks, we would tell you to say please and you would shake your head and say no. But in the last 3 or 4 days, I'll say, "what do you say?" and you do the sign with a big smile on your face!! I think you figured out it gets you what you want a lot faster :)

*the sweetest boy. You know what the word sad means, so when you do something that's not nice, I'll say, "That makes mommy sad." and you run over and hug me and kiss me and pat my head. Too cute! You're very attentive to what people are feeling and for the MOST part, make sure that they're happy.

*driving! Okay, not really, but your Nana bought you one of those little red and yellow cars (that we named Charlie) and you LOVE it. We have to bring it inside at night so you can play in it. You like driving it, but your favorite thing to do is just open the door and get in and out of it a million times. It keeps you entertained for hours!

*refusing to eat meet. We're going to get you a multivitamin because you spit meat out all the time. There's an ocassional one or two nights a week where you'll take a FEW bites of meat, but then you're done. And you've been doing something weird with your tongue, so I'm not sure if it's related or not. You stick your tongue out a lot and make a noise like something is hurting and you scrape at your tongue. Very odd. We'll see how that goes in the next few weeks. I think it might just be a stage.

*ornery as sin. A lot of times when you don't want to do something, we'll tell you NOT to do it and then you immediately run to do it. For example, if we want a hug and you won't give us one, we'll say, "You better not give mommy a hug! Don't you do it!!" And then your little legs come flying! And SOMEWHERE along the road, you've figured out to point your nerf dart gun and say, "bow!bow!" which I'm not sure I like. You're so little to know that guns shoot at people! I think you and daddy play with your nerf gun too much :)

*in LOVE with the outdoors. You can't get enough of being outside. Your hair is turning blonder and blonder because you're in the sun so much. I got out the sprinkler a few weeks ago thinking you would love it and....I was wrong. You HATED it. You saw me standing in it, so you ran to me and then started screaming as soon as the water hit you! We're going swimming this weekend (hopefully), so we'll see how you like that.

*copying EVERYTHING that EVERYBODY does. The other day, aunt Brooke killed a bug and when daddy came to pick you up, you grabbed his hand, took him to the spot where she killed it and re-enacted the whole thing for him. Then the other night, I shook your blanket out to make sure there weren't any spiders in it and you proceded to pick up all your other blankets and shake them. It's so funny and cute, but we have to really watch what we're doing now!!

*smart! You're figuring out some directional things like behind, above, the next one, that way, etc. You know who people are and can point to them when we ask, "where's Nana? where's mommy?" and you know that YOU are Tommy!!  You can find matching shoes. When we tell you to go get your shoes, if you bring us mismatched ones, we'll say, "go find the one that looks like this!" and you do!! You know all your body parts like eyes, ears, nose, tongue, toes, belly, hands, hair. You've even been trying to dress yourself and you try to help put daddy's socks on him before work :) It's pretty funny.

*not too excited to be a big brother. And I hope that changes! Not that you really know what's going on, but you're starting to get a little jealous. If someone has their hand on my tummy trying to feel Tessa move, you come over and take their hand off and start pulling on them to follow you. And several times we've said, "Tommy, do you want to see baby Tess? Are you excited to be a brother?!?" And you shake your head and yell NO! Hmmm.....it'll be love at first sight, right?

Son, you are SO awesome and I LOVE every single minute of having you. Even the crazy, stressful minutes because it means for every one of those, I get a million calm, sweet moments with you. I love seeing your little blond head pop over the side of the bed in the mornings and I love watching your long skinny legs run towards me for hugs. I get worried that when Tessa comes you'll think we love you less, but I promise not to give up those night time cuddles or open mouth kisses that you give all the time. I will try my hardest not to be too busy for you or too tired for you. You are so fun and sweet and deserve the best mom in the world (which I know I am not, but work hard to be better every day). I love you a million times over and am so glad every day that I get to be your mommy.

34 weeks

Wow! Every time I do my weekly update, I feel a little bit of awe at the number of weeks I am. 34!!!! Folks, that is SO close to the end :)

How Far Along? 34 weeks

Maternity Clothes? Yup. And due to my recent GIGANTIC weight gain, they're starting to get tight!

Weight Gain? 13 lbs. That's right. I've gained a crap ton of weight in the last 2 weeks.

Stretch Marks? No new ones

Gender? Girl!

Sleep? My sleep has actually been decent. I'm not making as many bathroom visits, but that kinda stinks because it means she's up high off my bladder. And her movements definitely agree with that assesment.

Food Cravings? glazed donuts from Quick Trip and Rootbeer. I canNOT get enough rootbeer.

What I Miss? Not being tired. Holding Tommy on my lap without him freaking out because there's not room.

Symptoms? Some serious heartburn--I'm even getting it from drinking root beer. What?!? Grossly swollen ankles and fingers.

Movement? Still a lot, but slowed down a little bit. She's doing tons of rolling. I feel like she is REEEEALY big!

Belly button? In

Worst Moment of the Week? The scale.......again. I don't get it. It's like I stay at a steady weight for 3-4 weeks and then in a matter of 2 days, can gain 3-4 pounds. That needs to stop!!

Best Moment of the Week? Finishing the kids' room last night! Like 100%, pictures hung, everything put away FINISHED!

Scariest Moment of the Week? See Worst Moment....

Lame Ramblings

So I've been totally lame lately. Not that there are a million people waiting with baited breath to find out what I blog about next (or is there?!), but I wish I did a better job at keeping track of life since my brain can't handle doing that right now! So here's my random thoughts in absolutely no order at all.

We had a great Father's Day. SUPER nice and relaxed! Tommy and I got up and had breakfast and skipped church (shhhh, don't tell) and waited for Nick to wake up. He got up around 11:30am and I cooked him an omelet, which turned out more like scrambled eggs with lots of delicious tidbits in it since I can't fold an omelet to save my life :) Then we went back downstairs to hibernate in the cool basement and we took a family nap until about 2:30pm. It was SOOOO nice. Nick needed the extra sleep since he had to work early last night (6:30pm--blah) and me and Tommy (and Tessa) needed the extra sleep because we're super grumpy if we don't get it! Then we got around and went to Towanda to see Nick's dad. We had a nice visit and then dinner at Gambino's. Being the super lame person I am lately, I had Tommy make Nick a card and promised a present later this week. Am I bad or what?!?

Friday night was fun! Nick worked, so me and Tommy went over to my sister and future brother-in-laws new house (which is coming along quite nicely!) and stayed the night there. We helped her organize the kitchen and stain her bedroom floors. Tommy loved it because he got to stay up late and have a camp out in the living room with his 3 favorite ladies! I loved it because I got to spend some quality time with MY 2 favorite ladies. And they don't have their cable hooked up yet so we had the TV turned off most of the time and just enjoyed eachother's company. We went shopping the next morning, which was NOT so fun. I'm not huge on random shopping--I like going if I'm by myself and I have something specific in mind and then I like to get in and get out. But my mom was looking for a dress for Brooke's wedding, so we went to the mall (GAG), which I completely despise!!!! So many people there and SO uncomfortable walking the mall with my swollen ankles and huge belly. We did go to Bed, Bath and Beyond to add a few things to Brooke's registry and that was fun. Then we had lunch at On The Border, which ALWAYS goes over well in my book :)

So as I mentioned, my ankles are huge. On Friday, we wear casual clothes to work, so I had on these black slip on shoes and capri jeans. I looked down at something on the floor and almost fell over because my ankles were GIGANTIC! Like, looked like a boa constrictor had swallowed a baseball gigantic. It was truly nuts. Because at the beginning of the day, they were perfectly fine. And they've been that way since. Lovely. Because a huge tummy just doesn't make me feel awesome enough :)

Brooke's shower is this weekend. I'm excited but anxious to get everything bought. I hope she has fun and likes all the food and decorations! She doesn't really like being the center of attention, which doesn't work out too well when it's a shower celebrating you, but I think she'll have fun once she's there. It's always ends up being a good time when you get friends and family together.

My irritability is at an all time high :) Especially today. Tommy woke up at 4am and stayed awake for 2 hours. He was just restless and tossed and turned non-stop. Needless to say, I'm so tired. And even if that hadn't happened, I'm sure I would still be irritable!! I'm tired of being hot and I'm SO ready to have this little girl! Also, since I magically gained 4 lbs over 1 1/2 weeks, a lot of my maternity shorts/pants are tight. Bummer :(

Speaking of having this little girl, it's only 43 days until my due date!! Which my doctor has already said we won't go until my due date, so that means it's really only about 36 days or less until she comes. Hallelujah!Once I hit 37 weeks, I'll be SO ready to get her OUT! Their room is 99% done, her clothes are washed and ready for her and she's got hairbows coming out the ying-yang. Bring her on!!!!!!!!

That's all the rambling I can handle for today. We'll see if I can come up with anything interesting to talk about later this week :)

33 weeks

My blog has been SOOOOO boring lately. Sorry :) It's the product of a busy, tired mama who keeps forgetting to unload all my pictures onto my computer. But anyways, I'm 33 weeks today!! Hallelujah! Getting closer and closer.

How Far Along? 33 weeks

Maternity Clothes? Yup. I actually just found a REALLY cute summer dress at Wal-mart that I LOVE. I thought being in pregnant in summer would suck, but it's been nice to wear sundresses.

Weight Gain? Holy weight gain. Let's talk about what happened. I weigh myself every day at work. I've been flucuating between 6 and 8 lbs gained since the beginning. Well I got on the scale yesterday and I had gained THREE lbs over the weekend. What?!? So that put me at 10 lbs gained total. Thankfully, this morning, one of those pounds was gone, but still......holy smokes.

Stretch Marks? Not new ones.

Gender? Sweet little lady

Sleep? It's been okay. Not awesome but not awful.

Food Cravings? Pixie sticks--deliciously sour AND sweet!

What I Miss? having a lap to put Tommy on, normal ankles, not getting hot just by breathing

Symptoms? heartburn, feeling full ALL the time but still having cravings :)
Movement? Still happening a lot, but slowing down. She's so big, she's just doing a lot of rolling now mixed in with a few hardcore kicks here and there.

Belly button? In

Worst Moment of the Week? Stepping on the scale yesterday!!

Best Moment of the Week? realizing the kids' room they're going to share is pretty much done!!! YAY!!!

Scariest Moment of the Week? Again, the scale........and just realizing it's coming so quick! Scary, but exciting!!

Gender? All girl!

Sleep? It's been okay. Not awesome but not awful.

Food Cravings? Pixie sticks--deliciously sour AND sweet!

Movement? Pretty constant--and I'm loving it!

Belly button? In

Worst Moment of the Week? yesterday was pretty not awesome because I felt so sick.
