Happy New Year!!

Ahhhhh.......no work today!! What a blessing :) Not that I'm not thankful for a job, but let's just say it's not what I want to do for a living. God definitely did not design me for the medical field. Have you ever called a doctor's office and whoever answered your questions was really uninterested in your problems and sounded like they didn't want to talk to you? Yeah, I'm that person sometimes. I try hard not to be, but I don't know how many times I can listen to one mom freak out about her kid having behavior problems or headaches. We've seriously had people who wanted doctor's excuses for whole months of school due to a headache. I don't know if it's just me, but if I had a headache, there's no way in heck my mom would let me stay home for a MONTH!!! Crazy..... Not much else going on around here. Went to watch my best friend try on wedding dresses today!!!! She looked amazing in everything she put on, but wound up buying the most BEAUTIFUL dress there at an even more BEAUTIFUL price :) She looks SOOOOO pretty and I can't wait to watch her marry the man of her dreams. She SO deserves it. We also found what we're pretty sure will be the bridesmaid dresses and they're very cute and flattering to the figure (Lord knows I need all the help with that I can get). It's going to be a gorgeous wedding!!! Can't wait until June. Nick went to check out some public hunting land today. Poor guy.....he's been trying all winter to get a deer and just hasn't gotten that perfect shot. Extended hunting season starts tomorrow, so hopefully he'll be able to get something. But I tried the comfort him with the thought that even if he didn't get a deer, he'd look great in all the new gear he got for Christmas!! He got new boots and a hoodie and hand warmers and a hunting gear bag. Let's just say he'll be prepared! We don't have any big plans for tonight. We've never really done anything big for New Years. We usually stay home and go to bed around ten.......real exciting, aren't we?!? I think tonight we are actually going to venture out of the house and go to dinner or something SUPER thrilling like that :) But just spending time with my hubby makes me happy. I think the longer we're married the more in love with him I get. It doesn't matter what we do, but we usually have a good time. Hope everyone has a safe and happy new year!! Bring it on, 2010!!!!!

Doesn't take much to make us happy!

So my husband called me today and said the funniest thing that made me realize how truly old we are getting! Remember when having the best day of your life used to consist of getting the last popsicle or using your favorite crayon or getting a phone call from a boy you liked? Well Nick called me today and asked what I was doing. My reply was of course, that I was working. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "Having the BEST day EVER!!!!" I asked him why it was the best day ever and he said that he found insulation on sale from $11.50 down to $5.00 a bag and that made him SO happy!! And it made me laugh and think how much our lives have changed. You know you're truly an adult when you get excited about a sale on insulation! So now we get to insulate our rental for half the cost we were expecting, which is a true blessing for us and our renter!

On an even more exciting note (I know, you're thinking, "What on earth could get more exciting than insulation on sale?!?!?!)--my cousins both recently had babies! They're the CUTEST little things. My cousins Darci and Cody had a little girl named Harper Grace Vivian and my cousins Cara and Craig had a little boy named Ty Allen Christopher. It's so fun to have two new babies in the family. But of course the down side to that is everyone is now insisting that it's MY turn to pop one out. Like I can just make it happen by snapping my fingers :) Why is it that when you're dating, everyone's question is, "When are you getting married???" When you get married, "Everyone's question is, "When are you having a baby???" I wish people would just be happy that I got to the married part!!!!! But I know they're just giving us a hard time.

I'm excited for upcoming weddings!! My best friend and another life-long friend both recently got engaged. I couldn't be happier for both of them. They're both wonderful and awesome girls who've been waiting for the right man to come along and it finally happened!! So congratulations to Hannah and Carol. Love you girls!

A new beginning

As a new year comes upon us, I can't help but make the annual "resolution list." I don't know why because usually I waste an hour thinking of all the things in my life I should change........and then never do :) Oops! I guess I should call it my new year's wish list. Of course, there's the infamous "excercise more" and stay organized, but this year I added blogging to my list. I never send out christmas cards or update letters. Whenever I get those in the mail from families I think, "Man, I'm SO going to start doing that!!" Yeah.......you can all guess how that turns out. Usually around Christmas time I trick myself into thinking that I'm actually going to mail out cards, so I write them out and address the envelopes and then usually lose them or forget to mail them until Christmas day. And a lot of times I just can't bring myself to pay $0.42 for a little tiny stamp. This year, I just said forget it and I'll start blogging so people can stay updated on our life! I just got off the phone with my sister, Brooke. She had her wisdom teeth taken out and is still HIGHLY medicated :) She was extremely mad that her dentist didn't say hi to her when he walked into the room. Instead he just "poked her with his thing." I promise those were here words!! I was thinking, "Man, couldn't we sue for that?" But then she explained that it was a long tube with really neat medicine in it. SOOOO glad I never had to have that done! We got a new bed last night........THANK GOD!!! I'm SO grateful we got it. It's a king size pillow top and sleeping on it last night was like a dream. So amazingly soft and comfy. Our old bed is SO old. Nick had it for about 7 years before we got married, so it's going on being 9 years old. I think we're going to use it as a gues bed upstairs. Nick wanted to throw it away, but it's not like it's broken! You can't throw away a perfectly good bed!! Besides, does anyone ever really stay with another family thinking, "I can't wait to sleep on their guest bed!! It's going to be so comfortable!" No, usually guest beds are left overs, so what would it hurt to put it in the spare bedroom? Well enough for the first blog........Sorry if it's really long. I'll try to update frequently, but not making any promises. Not that we're going to have a huge list of followers, but I'll still try :)
