Stretch Marks? No new ones.
Gender? A sweet little lady :)
Sleep? So-so. It varies night to night. Last night I only got up once. Praise God!!

What I Miss? Sleeping through the night, bending over easily, walking short distances without breathing hard.

Symptoms? Swollen ankles (aka cankles), shortness of breath, EXHAUSTION!
Movement? Constant. We're getting more into the full blown body rolls rather than little kicks. It's starting to hurt :)

Worst Moment of the Week? Sunday--I had some really bad crampy/muscle tightness stuff going on. I pretty much laid in bed all day because it hurt to move.
Best Moment of the Week? Nothing super outstanding. Preparing to start the kids' room!! SO ready to get that done. Oh and finding some great deals on baby clothes this weekend!!
Scariest Moment of the Week? The stuff on Sunday. But it's gotten much better.

15 months

Tommy seems to have done SO much from 14 months to 15 months!! It's crazy how fast they change.

Tommy, at 15 months you are:

*PACI FREE!!!!!!!!!!! This happened by accident 2 days ago. Me and daddy had been talking about taking it away before Tessa gets here but were going to wait until May. But your aunt Brooke forget to take one with her on Wednesday, so we decided to go ahead and start then. And you've done GREAT! I thought getting you to sleep would be a nightmare, but there's practically no difference. You've been a tiny bit whiny the past few days but other than that, you don't seem to miss it at all. And I'm so glad. You were starting to look silly being such a big boy with that thing in your mouth!

*growing, growing, GROWING. You are 26 lbs and almost 32 inches. My little boy is not so little anymore :(

*saying quite a few words. Not consistantly, mind you. You only say the words YOU want to say whenever YOU want to say them. When we TELL you to say something, you immediately clam up. Turkey. But so far, you've said: mama, dada, nana, dog, bath (bafff!), yes (yessshh), butt (don't ask), shoe, uh-oh, oops.

*able to point out most of your body parts. You know where your eyes, ears, nose, tongue, belly and feet are. Your favorite is your tongue. We'll say, "Where's your tongue?!" And you stick it out as far as you can and laugh and laugh :) It's cute.

*kissing the baby all the time. But you've started something new. I'll tell you to kiss the baby and you'll pull my shirt up so you can see my tummy and then you kiss her but you blow raspberries! You love the sound it makes and think you're so funny and clever (which you are--duh!)!! It makes mom and dad laugh every time.

*still wearing a size 5 diaper. They're kind of big on you, but the size 4s are too small. They should make diapers in half sizes :)

*very picky with your eating habits. And random. Some days you eat non-stop. Others, I worry that you're going to wake up in the middle of the night because you're starving. You still seem to stay away from meat, although you LOVE beef jerky (disgusting) and grilled kilbasa sausages. Weird kid :)

*soooooo dramatic. It's actually hilarious but we try not to laugh in front of you so you aren't encouraged to continue it. When you're tired or just feeling whiny, you throw your head back and fake cry and walk around in circles with your hands held up like, "Why me?" It's so funny.

*copping quite the attitude. We've been working on hitting lately and it seems like you're finally getting that it's not okay. But you still raise your hand like you're going to hit something and then when you catch one of us giving you "the look" (parents, you know the one I'm talking about), you look around for the closest thing to hit that's not a person. I think you think you're really intimidating, which cracks me up because your little tiny body wielding a little tiny hand is SO not scary :)

*really starting to pay more attention to TV. I'll say, "Let's go watch one of your shows!" and you run to the TV and stare until something interesting comes on. You especially love Team Umizoomi (which is not too bad) and Fresh Beat Band (which makes me want to throw up--please Jesus, let him outgrow that before he's old enough to want to go to their concerts!!). It's nice to have you watch a short show while I'm switching laundry or cleaning up. Makes things much easier!!

*LOVING the nice weather. You can't get enough of being outside. And animals make you so happy. You smile and laugh when you see a dog or bird or anything! It's so cute :)

*understanding what it means to be "sorry." Well, at least you know when we tell you to tell someone sorry, you go hug their legs and give them "loves." It's really sweet, although you're doing it often, which means you're saying sorry often :)

*getting really excited to see mom and dad! You were so attached to aunt Brooke when you were younger that you only cried when she left and only got excited when she came. But now, you get kind of upset when we leave and you RUN to the door when we get home. I love it! It's the best.

*waving bye-bye ALL THE TIME! It's funny because you usually wait until the person that's leaving is already gone or not looking. But you do it! And you've stopped your "baby wave" and do a full on Miss America pageant wave. Too cute.

The older you get and the closer we get to having your sister in the house, the more excited I am to see the two of you interact. I think about the future and hope and pray you'll get along and be friends! Tommy, you are so funny and you make me laugh every day (even when you're being a brat!!). I can't wait to get home from work to see you every day and waking up is easier to do because I know you're smiling face will be waiting for me :) Your personality is so sweet and fun and busy. I love watching the boy you're becoming!!!

Easter weekend 2012

Easter weekend was SO hectic. It had a lot of really good parts but a few not so great parts too.

On the Saturday before Easter, we always celebrate with my mom's side of the family. We go out to my aunt and uncle's house where they have a TON of land and a huge barn that we hang out in for the day. There's an Easter egg hunt (a junior and adult division :) and tons of food and this year, some four wheeling! Tommy got to do his first egg hunt (last year he didn't get it yet)! It was so funny because he was still pretty clueless and got distracted easily!

Nick was trying to help him find the eggs, but he kept looking at me like, "What the heck is the big deal with all these eggs??" But he eventually got the hang of it. Each kid got to find 5 eggs and the eggs had numbers in them and they got to pick a prize in the order that their numbers went in. He--okay, mommy--picked a duck whistle and bubble gum. He had a blast! Then we had the adult division hunt in which no pictures were taken because we were all hunting!! I did more waddling than hunting and only ended up finding 3 eggs thanks to being slowed down by Tommy and Tessa :)
He kept stopping to look down at the mud, grass, flowers, etc. THEN he kept wanting me to hold him. Which is getting increasingly difficult given the fact that I have started looking EXTREMELY pregnant and have no hip in which to put him on. But we kept on striving for those 3 stinkin eggs!

He had one little incident where he scraped up his nose pretty good. He wasn't even on the cement....just walking up a hill and at the top was a cement step and he stumbled and brushed his nose right on the edge of the cement. It bled a lot, but wasn't too bad. Sure does look good for his Easter pics though :)

After the egg hunts, we ate and then played. Nick took Tommy on his 1st 4 wheeler ride. Mommy had a miniature panic attack until she saw them pull back into the driveway, alive and in one piece. He was NOT a happy camper when they left (I don't know if you can see the picture well but he was terried). But when they pulled back up, he was grinning from ear to ear! He loved it!!

The next day (actual Easter) was a mess. It started out with Tommy waking up at 7am. He doesn't do that on weekdays, only weekends. Thanks Tommy. He was tired and cranky. He's recently decided that he HATES being dressed. He tries to rip his pants and shirts off. But even more, he hates wearing shoes. Sigh. I LOVE shoes. Maybe I'll have better luck with Tessa. Brooke had gotten him some super cute flip flops that matched his outfit perfectly. But I put them on and he FLIPPED out. Like, a legitimate panic attack. It was quite rediculous. He acted like he was paralyzed until I took them off. He wouldn't move, he wouldn't stand, he wouldn't walk. He just stood there screaming. We tried distracting him with his Easter basket and this is what we got:

Jealous, aren't you? You wish your kid was that sweet and well behaved, right? ;) By the last picture, I think I had taken his flip flops off and thrown them at the nearest wall because I was SO over it by then. That's the only reason he stopped crying. By the time we got over that fiasco and FINALLY made it to the car, it was 10:45am and we were late for church. But we did eventually get there and of course, he was restless for the whole service. He usually sits pretty still, but not that day! He was sliding under the chairs, banging on the wall.....whatever he could to make noise. That's my boy!! But I know God didn't care and I was glad we were there.

After church we went to my mom's and ate lunch. We took a walk to see Brooke and Michael's new house which is going to be SO cute!

Then we crashed for a short family nap after our walk and then it was time to go. Tommy's been doing this super ornery thing that is actually quite hilarious and Aunt Brooke got to experience that when she got her goodbye hugs. Whenever I tell him not to give mommy's kisses away, he grabs whoever he's holding onto and goes into a full on make out session with them. He watches me the whole time he's giving away "my kisses" to make sure I see it and that I'm getting "jealous." Then eventually he comes to me to give ME some kisses. It's so funny! So Aunt Brooke got to experience that :) You're welcome.

Once we got to the Wilhelm's, he got to do another egg hunt with his cousins.

He kept getting distracted by the doggy and the girls running around but he managed to find his fair share of eggs with daddy and Aunt Michelle's help! Mom lounged on the porch with the camera :) He opened his easter basket from grandma and grandpa. There were bubbles and candy in there, and he loves both!

Then it was time to eat again and Tommy ate about a pound of guacamole. The kid loves that stuff! And THEN he got dessert, which he really loved. It was strawberry shortcake and it was delish.

After dessert he got to run around shirtless for awhile and loved that almost as much as he loved his cake. He kept looking out the windows and running circles around their table.

It was a good weekend overall. We had a few kinks, but what family doesn't?!? And just in case you weren't completely sick of pictures and this post yet...........

A picture of my little man in his cute Easter outfit and a (not so great) family picture :) Hope you all had a great easter!!

Backtracking

I was going through my pictures while I was unloading my camera from Easter (which will have to have it's own post in a few days). I realized there's a lot of fun pictures I didn't get to share! It's amazing how you forget about a day until you see a picture and the whole experience comes rushing back. Thank God for cameras!

There was one day about 3 weeks ago where the weather had JUUUUST started getting nice. I got home and the boys had decided they wanted to take a little trip out to the pond. Daddy let Tommy drive. Don't worry, the pond is on our property, so it was about 1/10th of a mile that he drove, but he LOVED it!

Tommy is such an outdoors boy. I think he's going to live in the wilderness someday :) He recently found his love for his wagon. But the problem is, he wants to pull it AND ride in it. Yeah, that doesn't work too well, but he was bound and determined to try. Wonder where he gets that from?!? So he did a lot of sitting in the wagon and pulling backwards on the handle........and getting nowhere :)

Please excuse the Donald Trump hairdo. It was time for a haircut!
He finally let Nick pull him but refused to keep his bottom on the seat. He does this in the bath tub too. He just would NOT sit down. Scared me to death about a million times and aggrivates me to no end that he isn't minding!

We had fun just walking around the pond and looking at the ducks. He always points at them and says, "Oooooo!" I have a feeling he's going to be hunting those ducks some day. Kind of a sad thought. But for now, he could just sit and watch them all day. He was sad--to put it mildly-- when we left the pond to go back home.

He cried and cried and refused to walk to the truck so finally Daddy had to pick him up and he became the bad guy.
You would think he was being carried away to his death the way he was crying.
Until he got to "drive" back home. Then he was happy again :)

I'm so thankful we live out in the country with plenty of room for him to run around. I wish we had a little fenced in area so I wouldn't have to chase him quite so much, but he LOVES being a country boy! We had such a fun evening (other than the meltdown when it was time to leave) and it's so relaxing to be able to enjoy the outdoors in peace and quiet without having to travel a million miles or rent a campsite. So grateful for the crazy decision we made 2 years ago to buy this house! I hope our kids enjoy the land as much as we do.

23 weeks

How Far Along? 23 weeks (and 2 days)

Maternity Clothes? Yes. BIIIIIIIIG yes. I feel HUGE with this kid. Not so bad when I put pants on and there's something controlling the tummy. But I put a dress on the other day and holy jeepers. I looked like a truck with boobs.

Weight Gain? 2 lbs

Stretch Marks? nope

Gender? Girl. One active, crazy girl!

Sleep? No bueno. I get up 3-4 times a night to go to the bathroom and can NOT fall back asleep.

Food Cravings? peanut butter

What I Miss? sleeping on my back and not being able to bend over without becoming breathless

Symptoms? tired, starting to be ravenously hungry

Movement? Yes. And I'd like to take this moment to say: Tessa, my uterus is NOT your enemy. She'll help you grow if you're nice to her but you're starting to really hurt her. Be gentle, little girl. Geeeeentle.

Belly Button? In

Worst moment of the week? Being 5 months pregnant at the zoo in the 90 degree weather with Tommy
throwing up

Best Moment of the Week? Tommy kissing the baby and Nick getting to feel her move again

Scariest Moment of the Week?  nothing scary this week! Thank you Jesus!!

The Zoo

The zoo. Why do I always think trips to the zoo are going to be so much fun? They hardly ever live up to my expectations. The only time the zoo was truly awesome was when we got to leave school to go there :)

Tommy has been taking a huge interest in animals lately and Nick FINALLY got a weekend off, so we decided to head to the zoo Sunday after church. The weather was pretty decent.......85 degrees but there was at least a good breeze going. We started out in the petting zoo and I have to say, I think the "American Farm" exhibit was Tommy's favorite. He LOOOVED the horses and cows and petting the sheep or goats or whatever those things are.
Checking things out with dad

He had no hesitation whatsoever to touch these things

He kept pointing and saying, "Oooooo!"
We got to the tortoises and he SO loved them. He hung onto the fence for dear life and just laughed and smiled. His little face was priceless. I'm not sure why he liked them so much because they hardly moved but he did!
He kept hollering to get out of the stroller. Which I wouldn't have minded except there were 8 billion people there and I'm pretty sure 80% of them were kidnappers just looking for little blond haired, blue eyed babies that can run away from their mommies really fast! He was just dying to get a closer look at everything so we let him down and he kept cramming his face against the rails.

We finally made it to the gorrilla house (which is my favorite). They weren't moving much but luckily, there was one right by the window that he got to see. It's crazy how tiny Tommy looks next to that thing :) He liked it though. He kept patting the glass and trying to see it better.

The huge goldfish caught his attention too. Nick had to wrestle him to keep him from falling over the edge of the pond :) That boy is stubborn (I don't know where he gets it) and when he wants to see something, he will find a way!

Notice the missing shoe.....yeah, that happens a lot. Thank God a little boy saw it and gave it back to us :)
He seemed to like the statues more than the real animals. He wanted to touch one so bad so I took him out of his stroller and put him up there and he just started hugging it and kissing it. It was the cutest thing. Watch my son turn out to be a vet or something--how ironic would that be given my disdane for animals? :)

He had so much fun! He was pulling us around as fast as his little legs could carry him! He had a good time dragging dad around. I think he loved getting to spend a whole day with the both of us. It rarely happens with our work schedules, so it was a treat for all of us.

The day ended on a bit of a.........disgusting note. We were getting close to the end of the loop at the zoo and we were trying to get a better look at the hippos. They had just come up out of the water and Nick bent down to pick Tommy up from his stroller and said, "Uh, honey? I think he might have puked." I looked down and decided at first glance he had definitely puked. Yuck. ALL over his shirt. So we stripped him down and left right away. Poor baby. I don't know if he was over heated or had gagged himself (yes, he's been doing that lately), but I felt so bad for him. He seemed fine otherwise though.

So overall, the zoo was a decent day. Tommy had a great time, which was the whole point of it. But note to self: don't go to the zoo when you're 5 1/2 months pregnant and don't enjoy the heat. Not a good mix. I think I almost went into labor 15 times (okay, not really but it felt like it) and my ankles were pretty swollen by the time we got in the car. Plus, I had worn a shirt over a tank top and ended up taking it off because I got so hot and somewhere along the way, I lost the shirt! I was so mad because I had just bought it and it fit my pregnant belly perfectly. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

But this picture clearly shows I win :)
