In the name of love

So, I know it's been a few days, but I decided to make hand made Valentine's this year. Last year, Tommy was SUPER ticked about everything and I was pregnant and SO over it!
But THIS year, I was ready to help my kids show some love to the people in their life! I had seen this idea on this blog that I follow. She did this for her son last year and I thought it was SO cute. When I decided to make the kids' this year, I remembered it and it seemed easy enough, so I went with it!

The point of it is to take a picture of the kids and have their hands held out where it looks like they're holding a sucker out to you. Sounds simple enough, right? Let me tell you how next to impossible it was to get done. Tommy was trying, bless his little heart, but he just couldn't get the hands right!

Here are some of the out takes...........

\

These kids kill me! They're so funny! Can you tell Miss Tessa has been finding her attitude?

I went with these two as the final pics .......

And this is the final product..................not too shabby if I say so myself :) It was fun to make and I liked the idea that they were personalized instead of a generic store card (although I'm SURE those will sufice in Valentine's days to come!!)
Hope everyone had a happy love day!!

Take a guess

What do you think we're getting ready to do?

Wish me luck! I think it's going to come down to who's more stubborn, because so far, he's not having it. The last picture is the prize bucket and he KNOWS what's in there. So he often says, "Det da ball!!" He wants those bean bag balls sooooooooo bad, but he will NOT go potty on the big boy potty! Sigh.....I think we have a long road ahead :)

Round here

Around here, life has been soooooooo busy. And funny. These kids are killing me! Tommy's been talking up a storm. I wanted to jot down some of the things he's been saying lately......

"Nook at neeee!" Look at me--he says this CONSTANTLY and it's usually when he's doing something bad.

"Mom daaazeeey." Mom crazy!--his dad laughs every time he says this

"Ne eat wif ne mouf!" Me eat with me mouth!--he's been saying that whenever he does something with his mouth. He says he licks with his mouth, eats with his mouth, talks with his mouth, etc....

"Ne toot wif ne mouf." Me too with me mouth--he says this when he burps! hilarious!

"Mom talk all day. Ne eat all day. Ne lay in ne bed all day."--basically, he adds the term "all day" to a lot of things he says :)

"Ne dooped. Ne doopy." Me pooped. Me poopy--I hate hearing this sentence

"Ne drive on diwt." Me drive on dirt!!--EVERY time we drive! I told him once he could "drive" but not until we're on the dirt. So now he says it constantly

"Sis woud mouf." Sis is a loud mouth!--I said this once. ONCE. And he loves to repeat it :)

"I know!"--he usually says this after anything we say. I'll say, "You're driving me nuts!" And he says, "I KNOW!!"

"Ne on the teeeeaaam!" Me on the team--he says this when he's playing sports of any kind

He says SO much now, it's crazy. And he pops off with the most hilarious things that have us laughing most of the day. I love this stage--even though he also says stuff he shouldn't. No cusswords yet (unless you count douche bag)......I'm just waiting for that to happen.

He's also been SO into hockey lately. He loves, loves, LOVES to play hockey. This bat and ball......he uses as a hockey stick and puck. He's gone to a few games with uncle Brandon and Nana and can't get enough.

Tessa has been trying SO hard to be mobile!! I'm not ready for that yet!! Just in the last few days she's been getting up on her hand and tippy toes with her tummy off the floor. She stays like that for a few seconds and then flops down. It's hard work learning how to crawl!! I seem to remember Tommy doing this and shortly after he was crawling and shortly after he was walking. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! SO not ready for ANY of that!

She's also been getting QUITE the attitude lately. She's been letting us know how she feels when we take away toys or get out of her sight or stop feeding her or.....you get the picture. Whenever things aren't going her way.

I think it's safe to say she's got her, "No you di-uhnt!" look going on!

These kids are growing to fast!! Someone make it stop!!

Not my usual

This is not my usual post. It's a recipe. Don't worry, I'm not about to go all domesticated momma on you. Cause we all know THAT'S not true :) But I did stumble upon this recipe and have used it about once a week for the last few years. It's delicious and SUPER simple. And it doesn't require 9 million weird spices that you have to spend $50 buying.

It's called Guiltless Alfredo Sauce. You can find the website here. And it truly can be guiltless. I LOVE alfredo sauce. So delicious. But it's usually pretty fattening and requires half and half (which I NEVER half--haha, see what I did there? Clever, huh?).......anywho, here's the recipe.

2 cups low fat milk (I have made with skim and it tastes just as good)
1/3 cup fat free cream cheese
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp butter
chopped garlic to taste
1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Basically, you put the 2 cups of milk, 1/3 cup (which I just use 1/3 of a bar) of cream cheese and the 2 tbsp of flour in a blender. Blend until there's no chunks. Then melt the 1 tbsp of butter and saute the chopped garlic (I used garlic powder when I was out of garlic cloves and it tastes just as good). Add the milk mixture into the pan with the melted butter/garlic and stir. Add in the 1 cup of grated parmesan (I use the kind in a can) and stir.

That's it. Truly. It's so fast (like literally 5 minutes). You just stir it while it thickens and you're good to go. If it's a little too runny for some reason, just add a tiny bit of flour and it'll thicken up.

Try it. You'll LOVE it. I promise!! And with the low fat or no fat milk and the low fat or no fat cream cheese, there's no guilt. Except you might want to drink it out of the pan instead of putting it over noodles because it's THAT good.

Being a mom

Things I never thought I would say on an almost daily basis:

"Get off your sister's head! That's not nice to sit on her face!"

"Don't wipe your boogers there! Get a kleenex."

"Because I said so (SWORE I'd never say that)."

"Get your hand out of your pants. That's yucky."

"We do NOT eat food from the carpet. Gross. If you're hungry, I'll get you something to eat."

"Get that out of your mouth. NOW."

"Do you want to sit in time out?"--SO annoying when he says yes

"We do not climb in the dishwasher. You could get stuck."

"Where are your pants?"

"Thomas James! THOMAS James! THOMAS JAMES!!!!"

"Go put that back in the trash. NO! Do NOT put that in your mouth! Trash. NOW!"

"No, we don't say douche bag. Mommy shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry. It's not nice."

"Put your tootbrush back on the sink. No, the sink, not the toilet. Get it off the toilet. I said NOT on the toilet!"

"3...........you better get in here...........2...........right now, Tommy!....................If I get to 1 you're gonna go to time out.....................TOMMY!....................1. Okay, timeout."

"Do you need to go potty? Are you sure? Did you potty? Wait! Let's go sit on the potty!"

"We do NOT poop on the closet floor! Yuck! That is VERY yucky!! NO POOPING IN THE CLOSET!!!"

"Don't spit it out. Swallow it. No, it's not nice to spit food out on the table."

"Don't tell mommy to hush. That makes Jesus sad. You be nice to Mommy."

"Can you hand that to Mommy?......it's right there. By your hand.....No, by your HAND. Not your feet, your hand. Please give that to Mommy........Tommy, it's RIGHT there.......Turn around..........Now look down....DOWN. By your hand. TOMMY, BY YOUR HAND!!!......never mind. Mommy will get it."

He wears me out. A lot. And I say so many things I swore I never would. And while these things make me tired and frustrated a lot of times, he says so many things that make my heart so happy. Like:

"Duff dooo, Mom"--love you mom
"Dis Dod's house!"--this is God's house
"Ne, you, Dad, Sis here!" Me, you, Dad and sis here (he says that when he wants us all together)
"Hi MOM!!!"--usually VERY enthusiastically
"Hug nee"--hug me
"Diss. Mmmmmmuuuuaawwwww!"--Kiss (then he makes the kissing sound)
"Ne tay here!!" --Me stay here (when he doesn't want to leave the house)
"Hode nee"--Hold me (of course I will, sweet boy)

Sigh...........being the mother of a toddler is like riding an emotional roller coaster :)
